Life Pt.7
In the last session of our Signs of Life sermon series, Melanie Bertoglio teaches the necessity of Excretion. In the same way our physical bodies become toxic when excretory system isn't working properly, we can experience toxicity in our spiritual lives, too. Excretion is important to maintain a healthy spiritual life and necessary to rid ourselves of bitterness, unforgiveness, anger, and wrong thoughts about ourselves and God.

In the same way that our physical bodies need food to sustain our physical lives, spiritual nutrition is necessary to sustain spiritual lives. Pastor Ashley shows us what that spiritual "food" should consist of... the Word of God, fellowship with God through the Holy Spirit, and a Godly environment where Godly counsel is abounding.

Pastor Ashley gives us practical steps to help us rid ourselves of "pet" sins. Guilt from "pet" sins robs us of our passion because we cannot feel guilt and enthusiasm at the same time. The alabaster jar with the expensive perfume that is spoken of in Mark 14:3 is estimated to be worth $30,000-$50,000 today. Why? Her outward behavior reflected her inward passion for Christ. Pastor Ashley teaches that we become motivated when we associate with passionate people, and we become motivators when we express our passion for God passionately.

Our minds respond to the impulse of our five senses. Every day, we are being told to "taste this, touch this, listen to this, watch this." The BIG question: what is "this?" How are we guarding what our senses are exposed to? In this message, Pastor Ashley teaches us that "Jesus came to win back our ability to NOT let our natural senses determine our outcome." He reminds us that we are no longer controlled by our sinful nature, but we are "crucified with Christ."

    Productive Passion
When it comes to passion in the Church, a lot of people have it... but it is often misdirected. We're not different than Moses, David, Peter, or Paul who all had misdirected passion at some point. Melanie Bertoglio teaches us how to focus our passion as each of those men of the Bible learned to do so that our passion is productive for the kingdom of God.
