A Relationship with God Part 8
Posted by Ashley Ellison
In Mark 11, we read of the fig tree that appeared on the outside to be good for fruit; however, it did not produce. Pastor Ashley uses this example to show us that as Christians we are created to produce, and when we don't, we are violating the intent of our creator. Jesus spoke to the fig tree and it died immediately at its roots. In like manner, we should be speaking to those things in our lives that are not producing according to God's will for our lives. Too often we speak to God about our problems when He has instructed us to use the Law of Faith to speak to our problems directly.

Jul 5, 2020A Relationship with God Part 5Posted by Ashley EllisonPastor Ashley teaches us to rightly divide the passage in Luke 11:5-8, which many have taught as a comparison to God when it is, in fact, a contrast. We do not have to beg God for things that He not only desires to give, but has already given. In the Old Testament, great men like Moses and Abraham had to serve as mediators between God and man; however, today we have Christ as our mediator. He is always advocating on our behalf, but it is our job to position ourselves to receive whatever it is that we are asking for.

Jun 24, 2020Getting Real Part 1: True and False WorshipPosted by Ashley EllisonMelanie Bertoglio teaches from Isaiah 58 to remind us that the condition of our vertical relationship with God does not rest on what we do for Him, i.e. going to church, reading the Bible, fasting, praying, sacrificing, singing in the choir, etc. While all of these things are important, a loving, intimate relationship with God will manifest itself in our horizontal relationships with others. If our relationships and our communications with people do not reflect the heart of God toward them, then our vertical relationship with God is not what it needs to be. In today's culture, the world needs to see Christians being nice.

Jun 21, 2020A Relationship with God Part 4Posted by Ashley EllisonPrayer is communion with God, and not an attempt to inform a misinformed God. Using the Lord's Prayer as our outline for how to commune with God, Pastor Ashley encourages that if we start and end with praise, all of our circumstances that we are praying about become very small. When we think of our prayer time as communing with God, worshiping and loving Him as our primary goal, we can truly develop a deep and meaningful relationship with Him.
