When preparing to partake of communion, we understand the imperative to examine ourselves and to remember Christ and His sacrifice. Pastor Ashley points out the additional imperative from John 6:56 to abide, which means (in the Greek) to "remain and continue to remain" connected to Jesus in everyday life, not just on Sundays and Wednesdays.
